I am currently based in Pretoria, working for the University of Pretoria.
In what year did you complete your honours degree?
2017
What path did you follow before ending up with your current company?
2018 - 2018: I worked for Babusisekile Business Enterprise, a contractor based in Witbank, Mpumalanga, as a Project Administrator at first, then became a Site Supervisor.
2019- 2024: I worked for Department of Public Works and Infrastructure, Chris Hani Region, as a Candidate Construction Project Manager.
2024 - 2025: I worked for Engineering Aces, a consulting firm based in Bloemfontein as a Project Manager / Programme Lead.
What is your current position and what does the role entail?
I am currently working for the University of Pretoria, as a Project Manager. I am working in the Facilities Management department; coordinating, facilitating and managing projects on and off-campus.
What advice would you give a current construction management student?

Attend ALL your classes.

Engage in class (it will go a long way)

Start vacation work as early as first year (even if you do not get paid)
What was your favourite module?
Professional Practice for Construction Management, Construction Management, Labour Law, Building Science (Environment & Services), Building Science (Structures), and Building Science (Materials & Methods)
Who was your favourite lecturer?
Prof J Smallwood, Chris Allen, Katharina Crafford, Stephen Lear, Geoff Combe-Davis and Prof W Shakantu.
What are your plans for the next 5 to 10 years?
I plan on studying further with the possibility starting my own consultancy.
